I learned a massive amount about the processes of globalization and localization, for one reason because I didn't kniow a whole lot about these terms before this class started. I understand the basic concepts a lot better but I still feel I have a lot to learn about both globalization and localization. I understand that globalization can be a very broad term for different aspects of a region or nation making its way to other parts of the world in some way. However, after this class and discussing globalization, I think the first thing I think of is a country or regions culture and ideas spreading to other parts of the world rather than physical goods. I feel like a good example of this is in India with the film industry known as "Bollywood." The ideas and even the name were assimilated and traveled to Indian culture from the United States and the film industry known as "Hollywood." The film industry exploded and was centralized in Southern California which later got the "Hollywood" name and as an enormous demand for films in the country of India arose, an explosion of a film industry occurred and they adopted the name Bollywood from Hollywood. This example of globalization, the spreading of culture or ideas, is much more important to me than other aspects of globalization as well as much more interesting. I think there is more to be studied and learned when looking at this portion of globalization.
